Heidi's One Year Cake Smash ~ Austin Baby Photographer

Heidi, her mama, and her auntie arrived at the studio on a breezy, blue-skied day in March - the month of Heidi's very first birthday. Today we would celebrate with a photo shoot, complete with cake smash! Princess Heidi was of course dressed to the nines when she arrived, but mama soon changed her into outfit number one for pictures: the most outrageously pink and perfectly fabulous dress! A knockout frock for a knockout little girl. 

Heidi, however, was apprehensive. She shot mama a couple menacing looks that I am happy to say we caught on camera. I imagined her to be thinking "What is all this fabric? Why is everyone laughing and smiling at me?  What is this large black device in my face, and who is the strange woman behind it? Why are my legs hot?" Oh, sweet Heidi. This will prove to be one of your earliest lessons in the old adage, "beauty is pain," my dear!

We captured some sweet expressions of joy in the precious pink dress, then moved on to wardrobe change number two: a snappy little houndstooth number. Mama dreamed of a Kate Spade inspired one year session, and I think we pulled it off!

The session ended with a bang, or shall I say a SMASH. Most little ones are a little frightened by or even disinterested in their cake - but not Heidi.  Heidi aimed for total cake annihilation. It was honestly such a joy to behold. I laughed SO much that day! Enjoy a few favorites!
