Top 20 Images of 2020 (and some reflections, too) ~ Austin Family & Newborn Photographer
Oh, what a year. 2020 certainly took us all by surprise, and I don’t think I need to waste a lot of words on all the rest.
Professionally, this year has been full of the lowest lows and highest highs. Back in early spring, I was really scared for my business - non-essential work such as mine ground to a halt, and I didn’t see clients for a month and half during my second busiest season of the year. Like everyone else, I had no idea what the future would hold, and I wondered if my business would ever be the same.
Work stayed steady from May 1st onward, and then absolutely exploded in fall. I am so beyond lucky to have had a profitable year - especially the second half - but I must admit that it came at a price. I serviced 147 families from September 1st to December 13th, and I’ll be using this number in future fall seasons as a “What Not To Do Ever Again.” (unless I hire an assistant) Ha ha!
I can look back at this wild year and see clearly some things I did so well, and some things I did not-so-well - and the lessons will serve as a blueprint going forward. Whether or not it’s all psychological, I absolutely love the blank slate of a new year and all the promise of fresh beginnings it holds. 2020 was the wrench that taught us our plans can and will certainly be foiled from time to time, but I, for one, will never stop making them - with gratitude and hope in my heart.
Here are my “top 20” favorite images of 2020, followed by quite a lot of honorable mentions. :)
And now for the honorable mentions…
I could have easily chosen at least one favorite image from each and every session this year, so if your family doesn’t appear here, just know that it’s ONLY because I just ran out of stamina or didn’t want to include too many that were similar. :)
Finally, THANK YOU to each and every family who supported me and my business in 2020 - your kindness carried me. I’m proud of the images we made together, and I invite you, as always, to contact me with any feedback or suggestions on how I can serve you better in 2021.
CHEERS to a new year!!!
